Editorial Standards

Tech Capital News aims to publish accurate, clearly labeled information. These standards guide reporters, editors, and contributors.

Independence and labeling

Independent articles, analysis, opinion, and interviews are produced by the newsroom. Press releases, company announcements, and sponsored content are labeled in the interface and in machine-readable metadata. Labels are not optional for those content types.

Sourcing and verification

Claims that can reasonably be checked should be checked. When we rely on a single source, we say so. Acquisition coverage that names a transaction should include supporting documentation in the editorial system before publication whenever documentation is available. If a buyer is undisclosed, we say “undisclosed buyer” rather than inventing a name.

Financial claims

Dollar figures, return promises, and predictions that an announcement will raise an asset’s value require sourcing or clear attribution. Unsupported promotional superlatives are flagged for editorial review. Confidential deal terms should be marked as confidential rather than filled in with speculation.

Review and approval

Press releases, sponsored content, and company announcements require editor or administrator approval before publication. Sponsored content cannot publish without a sponsorship record and a visible sponsorship disclosure. Press releases cannot publish without an issuing organization.

Opinion and analysis

Opinion reflects the author’s viewpoint and does not speak for Tech Capital News as a whole. Analysis should ground interpretation in stated facts and identified sources.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we correct it. See our Corrections Policy and the public corrections form.
